zhong qiu jie

We are still working through the mooncakes that Sharon bought for Zhong Qiu Jie, Mid Autumn Festival. They were sort of expensive... and they're not particularly delicious to me... but I'm still glad that Sharon keeps the tradition.

Culture

Sharon's family gave us a dress up Chinese outfit for the boys a while back. It's fun to see them wear it. They look handsome and I like to see Sharon's traditional culture in them.

Dumplings for new years

Today is the first day of Chinese New Year! Most traditions around this holiday involve visiting specific relatives on specific days and eating specific kinds of food. Dumplings are usually eaten. They are kind of a pain to make. Especially if you make the skins, which we don't do. Very labor intensive either way, especially with three kids three and under to watch. Sharon spent several hours today working to make them. They were good!

I am glad she put forth the effort, mainly because I think it's fun and important to keep traditions going, especially for the kids.
