Brushing teeth

Enoch eats breakfast and lunch at school. Sharon was worried about him drinking juice and chocolate milk and never brushing his teeth after those meals. We tried to tell Enoch to brush his teeth after breakfast at school, but I think he was too embarrassed to do it. We kept encouraging him, and today he came home so proud that he had done it. What a good habit... All thanks to Sharon!

I'm here to help, now we're late

Today was the first day that I was off. I'm finished with my rotations now! Enoch has to get to school by 7:45 or else he's late, and three lates equals an absence. Sharon was looking forward to me being home helping out in the mornings. I'm not sure what happened, but we were late. My first day home was Sharon's second day ever being later. I tried... but I think I just got in the way. My home managing skills are not nearly as good as Sharon's...

homework

Sharon helped Enoch out with a homework assignment to build a house and draw family members inside. Ever since I was a kid I hated stuff like that. It's only worse now. Luckily Sharon is there to help the kids with such miserable things... thanks!

interviews

I've been getting some interviews for radiology residencies, and it's been fun to see how excited Sharon is getting. Thanks for your support!

Peter on the bicycle

Sharon told me her back was hurting today. I asked why -- she was crouching over to hold Peter on his bicycle as he and Michael rode along. I would have no patience for that but I know she can't resist. She loves her boys!

mustache still going strong

4+ weeks later, sharon is still supportive of my mustache! That's saying a lot

physical therapy

My back's been getting better, but it's still sore. Sharon is basically making me go to physical therapy to learn what exercises I need to do. Thanks for taking care of me!

Primary program

The primary program was today. Enoch had the following line:

"I can gain a testimony of Jesus Christ by singing primary songs."

I know it because Sharon practiced with Enoch over and over again. He had it memorized and said it very well without needing help. He was very proud of himself and it was very fun. He was one of the only kids in his group to memorize his line. Good job Sharon and Enoch!

Retirement

Sharon retired yesterday from her dessert business. She's worked really hard and made a fair amount of money, but it was just taking up too much time and effort and not becoming worth it. I'm so proud of her for putting herself out there and selling her goods, which were very popular.

World's greatest dad

Had a great time watching this movie with Sharon today. I say this a lot but it can't be overstated how great it is to do just do simple things like watch a good movie with someone you love. It makes everything better.

courage

Sharon took the kids to the children's museum today. She didn't bring the camera but didn't want to miss getting a photo of Peter in a cute moment. I love that she didn't feel inhibited to ask a stranger to take a photo and email it to her.

best pie ever

sharon made a chocolate cream pie yesterday and it was the best I've ever had. Literally the best crust I've ever had. Although she did try to poison me yesterday and today with chicken that gave me a tummy ache, but I still managed to get some today.

Grand rounds

Had a grand rounds today about pediatric insomnia. The gist of it was that most cases of bad sleeping are due to poor habits. They are resolved by parents adopting things like bedtime routines. Pretty much every single little trick or tip that was discussed for good sleep was something that Sharon adopted long ago with our kids. Good job, honey!

karate

Sharon was excited to sign up Enoch for Karate. I came home late today and couldn't help watch the kids. She took them all to his class and managed to shoot some good photos. Super mom.

I'm working on an article that is proving to be quite lengthy... over 50+ pages. I asked Sharon if she would be willing to read it when I finish, and she hesitated but then said yes. I told her she made the right answer. She is so supportive!

papusa buffet

Last week we went out to eat to celebrate some things. We need to eat out more. We don't very often so we can save money... but each time we do the money seems well worth it. It's fun and it gives us all a break, especially Sharon. Heaven knows she needs and deserves one more often that she gets!

Picking up Enoch

I got off early today and was able to pick up Enoch from his preschool. Sharon was so happy that I could do that for her and she didn't have to wake up Peter from his nap to go. It's been difficult for her getting used to the school thing, especially since the school is 10+ minutes away and it takes a while to drop off and pick up the kids with the safety system they have in place. It is quite the hassle and I was thinking bad thoughts after just one afternoon of it. Sharon does it twice a day 5 days a week, that and so much more. Sharon is the unsung hero in our family.

zhong qiu jie

We are still working through the mooncakes that Sharon bought for Zhong Qiu Jie, Mid Autumn Festival. They were sort of expensive... and they're not particularly delicious to me... but I'm still glad that Sharon keeps the tradition.

my wife makes better cakes than your wife

Got into a who's wife is better argument with a friend at school today. He thought his wife made better cakes, but I of course knew that mine made superior cakes. No contest.

Love this picture that Sharon caught of Michael today. Michael built himself a little fort and literally took a long nap underneath it.

Mustache

Sharon sort of joked about how I should grow a mustache. Pictures later, but I credit her for a great idea and wonderful inspiration. I am one week into it and it's been forcing me out of my shell a bit but I am settling quite nicely into the new, nasty look.

New couch -- superwoman

Somebody in the ward was giving away a new couch, and Sharon jumped on it (the white loveseat). I pulled something in my back a few weeks ago and Sharon has been insisting I take it easy. She went and got the couch, she found some movers that happened to be in the neighborhood when she got home with the couch and charmed them into helping with bottles of water, and then she redid the room all by herself. With our millions of toys that took a lot of work. She is a super woman!

forev

Sharon and I watched the movie Forev tonight. A bit of language at times, but we both thought it was funny and enjoyed watching it together. I need to be a better husband and watch more romantic comedies with Sharon... it's a recipe for goodness it seems, even if it is tortuous to pick one out. They always seem so dumb in the description but usually end up enjoyable. I probably secretly liked those movies when I was single... but I will credit Sharon for helping me come out of the closet about them.

busy mornings

I left for work at 6:20 this morning. I was noiser than usual and Sharon ended up getting up at that time as well. I thought she would have lots of time on her hands since she got up so early. Tonight I found out that this was a fairly typical morning for her, getting the kids lunches, clothes, milk, her exercise clothes, etc etc etc ready. With Enoch having to be at school at 7:45 I'm impressed that she can always get herself and the 3 kids out the door every morning.

Outnumbered

Pictures like these encapsulate what a handful the boys are and how hard Sharon works just to stay afloat. She has a tough job and does great!

Had a great time at the beach today. Sharon insisted on going home a bit later than I wanted to, and we ended catching the ferry back to Galveston right during sunset. Don't have the photo uploaded yet... I will have to upload it later!
