Cleaning

Chase and Cait are coming to town. There's some housework that only gets done when company comes to town.... and we don't have much company so there is a lot to do! Sharon told me I can give her one assignment per day. I make sure to make them count then. :-)

I love our fun little deals

Sick

Sharon is pretty sick today. She didn't sleep all night and has an odd pain deep in her back. I hope she's OK and feels better soon! Sometimes I don't always realize how much the house resolves around her until she gets sick.

Burnless children

Turns out Sharon got a pretty bad sun burn on our last day at the beach. I also got a bit burned, but not nearly as bad. The kids, though, only got mildly red, if at all. And that's mainly Sharon's doing. Sometimes we bicker a bit about whether or not the kids need sunscreen when they go outside, and sometimes Sharon gives in and lets me take them outside a bit without it. But when it matters her caution prevails, and our kids came away from 4 days at the beach basically burnless. Good job.

Fun mama

I'm grateful Sharon is willing to spend 3 nights in an RV and 4 days on the beach with our little kids. Vacationing with little kids and bringing a 1 year old anywhere, especially the beach, is exhausting. But it's worth it and I'm glad Sharon has the energy for it.

The RV

Sharon wasn't excited about camping, but she was willing to do it anyway. Luckily, I took her desires into consideration and we found an affordable RV to rent at an RV park. It rained for almost 2 straight days.... and boy am I glad I didn't force Sharon to camp with me in the rain for several days with three little kids. But it's pretty special she was willing to do it in the first place.

Packing

Packing up with Sharon to go to an RV camping trip to the Bolivar Peninsula. We've both got lists of things to do and bring to make the trip fun and smooth for the family. It's a very satisfying part of marriage to work together to make something fun happen.

Wanna grow up

Love this picture that Sharon took the other day of Peter. Our little boys just want to grow up

Give me my money

Somebody from church recently bought an item from Sharon. Except she keeps forgetting to pay Sharon for the item that Sharon gave her in good faith, apparently without apology. This kind of thing is awkward for everyone but I love Sharon's persistence and refusal to be taken advantage of.

My ride

Today Sharon took me to the hospital with the three kids in the car at six in the morning. My radiator exploded yesterday. One great part about marriage is always being able to count on somebody.

Kodak moment

I'm glad Sharon caught this Kodak moment. It's one of those priceless photos for me

3 hours of the zoo

Today we went to the zoo for 3 hours. It was a lot of fun... and exhausting. For some reason taking the kids to the zoo is more tiring than 10 hours of hospital wards. 20 points to Sharon for doing stuff like this with the kids every day!

books

Sharon came home from the library today with around 15 library books for the kids. She said something like "every time I come home I'm just so excited to read the books with the kids!" I thought that was cute.

Painting

Sharon had the idea to have the kids paint a picture for grandma for her birthday. I was skeptical at first but I think it turned out to a great idea. She thinks of things I wouldn't on my own.

Hot sweaty meal

Sharon worked really hard in our hot sweaty kitchen to make an amazing meal for father's day. Thanks!!

making a cake

today sharon is making a cake for michael's birthday and father's day. It's looking good... double layer chocolate! She always goes all out to make people feel special.

Talking through the night

I unexpectedly got Saturday off and Sharon and I stayed up late talking about stuff past midnight. It's so nice to have someone to share your heart with.

Swimming

Sharon took the three boys swimming today for three hours. I have no idea how she did that. Super mom!

mama keeps you safe

Have my day off today. Went swimming, and this kid could not get enough of his mommy. He was never satisfied with me holding him. Interesting because he's fine with me when we're at home and loves to play. But apparently when he's in a strange scary place like the pool he needs his mama. He knows she loves him and will keep him safe!

Don't use the bathroom

Yesterday I got home after working all night. I'd been at the hospital around 20 hours. More than I'm used to... but residency will only be a lot worse. I stayed up a few hours with Sharon and the kids and then I fell asleep on the bed at 5. Woke up at 11 and then slept again until morning. I found out later that Sharon didn't even use the bathroom in our room because she didn't want to wake me up and hoped I would get a good rest. That girl loves me!

church alone

I wrote something similar last Sunday, but it's worth repeating. Today Sharon took the kids to church by herself while I was at work. It's a lot of work to do that and I appreciate her going through the effort to bring the kids to a good place and being a good example.

toys R us

I'm glad Sharon doesn't shop at toys R us. The fact that places like toys R us can stay in business is scary. There are so many people out there that are willing to constantly spend way too much money on toys. Today Sharon took the kids to a pediatric workshop and they all got $10 in toys R us gift cards for it. That's a lot of work to take 3 little boys to a workshop like that by yourself and have PA students practice examining the kids. Afterwards Sharon took the kids to the workshop and they got new duplos. Because they never go in and buy toys, I'm sure it was the ultimate treat for them to do that. That's good parenting for many reasons!

Cookies to work

Tomorrow is going to be a crazy day. Computers are going to be down and we are admitting patients. Sharon made cookies for me to bring to work to ease the pain!

fun without me

Worked late tonight. Sharon texted me saying she took the kids on bikes and played in sprinklers. Glad she had fun without me and takes the kids to do things on her own.

dinner for a friend

the other day sharon brought a meal over last minute to someone she doesn't really know who asked for it. we're still not sure why they asked for it and are wondering a bit if they took advantage of sharon's generosity. Nonetheless Sharon was kind and brought them a meal and cookies. She has a kind spirit.

more notes

I mentioned this earlier, but Sharon has continued to write me notes and stick them in my lunch or on the kitchen table for me to see when I wake up. My rotation right now is particularly frustrating and stressful, and these notes really help. Thank you! I am lucky.

Pies

Sharon made cookies yesterday, partially for me to bring to my team today, and then pie today for someone who had a baby. She is very generous. Everyone loved and devoured her cookies today and people love her pies. And its not the kind of fake love where you have to say you like it to be nice.

little cookie helpers

Sharon made cookies today as I was leaving for the hospital. She had Enoch and Michael put M&Ms on them. It reminds me of when I was little. These little activities are important and the kids will remember them. I'm glad she does things like this.
