Pack me up.

Leaving for my interview tomorrow. I have no idea how I would pack by myself.... Sharon is a life saver! She's basically packing everything for me. Now that's what I call teamwork. Right now she's packing my underwear. She's the best.

Hide the kids at McDonalds

Yesterday and today Sharon made a point of keeping the kids outside. This meant playing at McDonalds for an hour after picking up Enoch from school. I'm studying for Step 2, so I appreciate the silence. I told Sharon I might want to study at school to be more productive, but she prefers me to be home for the occasional company and so I can be more comfortable. I appreciate her efforts and support!

Interview prep

Sharon is running around the house trying to find something that looks professional for me to put papers in for my residency interview tomorrow. I'll get some sort of portfolio for next time... but Sharon is determined to not let me go empty handed tomorrow. I probably will anyways, out of preference, but I appreciate the effort!

getting smarter

Sharon insisted that I get a smart phone to help me in my interview travels. Got it today! I ended getting a good deal as well, $125 in store credit, free phone after rebate, and $35 a month for service. Would have been too cheap to think about getting one without Sharon pushing me. Thanks honey

It's just money

I've been feeling a bit guilty about all the interviews I have lined up for residency. I've canceled some of them, but I still feel like I have too many. It's hard because I don't want to waste money, but I also feel like I have a chink in my application and I need to do a lot of interviews. Sharon told me not to worry about spending a few extra thousand dollars, and I know she meant it. Thanks for supporting me!

I've been getting some interviews for radiology residencies, and it's been fun to see how excited Sharon is getting. Thanks for your support!

Read my stuff

I'm working on an article that is proving to be quite lengthy... over 50+ pages. I asked Sharon if she would be willing to read it when I finish, and she hesitated but then said yes. I told her she made the right answer. She is so supportive!

My back hurts

For the past couple of days, by back has been very uncomfortable. Probably a combination of not being used to IR and working hard to get ready for Michael's birthday party. She has been very supportive and tries hard to not let me strain my back. I can tell she loves me!

late night

Gotten home relatively late a few nights this week, and I really appreciate what a great attitude Sharon has about handling the kids by herself all day, even at night.

Cinnamon roles for the team

Sharon made cinnamon roles for my entire IR team. That was a ton of work and I love her for her sacrifice. Everyone loved the cinnamon roles and kept telling me to thank Sharon for them all morning. They were snarfed and the entire pan was gone by 10.

Conversation

Sharon and I had a wonderful conversation today for about 3 hours. We talked about a lot of very personal things and it was so wonderful to have her there to talk to and to have her support and smart conversation.

Out with the missionaries

Went out with the missionaries today from 6:30 - 9:15. That's sort of a long time... and I was glad Sharon was so supportive. It's never as fun to put the kids to bed by yourself... but she did it without complaining. And her back/neck was still a little sore.

Studying

I've been kind of busy recently studying, being on my anesthesia rotation, and preparing for my subinternship, and Sharon hasn't ever complained about it. Thanks for your support!

Pie master

I got home from work in the morning and told Sharon the residents were having a pie party tonight with ice cream. I told her the cupcakes she made would be wonderful. I went to bed, and when I woke up she had made a chocolate cream pie. She's amazing!

Everyone was very impressed by her pie and they thought it was very cute she made it for us. It was way way way better than all the other store bought pies. One of the surgeons told me how good it was during a delivery.

I haven't had much time to help at home recently, but Sharon is doing even more than acting as a single mom. She's doing that and taking care of me! I have a super woman as a wife.

My lunch box

Took my big test today. Not sure how I did. Sharon packed my a top-notch lunch for it. Granola bars, sliced apples, celery and peanut butter, soda, fancy ham sandwich, M&M's. It was way too much for me, but it was a comforting thought during my day of testing that a lunch box full of goods was always there for me, prepared by my dear wife.

Studying

Lately I haven't been helping around the house as much as usual. I have felt the need to study and get other school stuff done. I know Sharon can tell the difference and feels the extra burden, but she has been taking it on well. Even though my big test is tomorrow and I am stressed, I know it's also Sharon who is stressed too. I am grateful for all of her support.

Buoy

I don't often like to admit when I'm feeling stressed. When I do, I know I can count on Sharon to buoy me up. And that means a lot.
