Law school

Sharon made a somewhat firm decision yesterday that she wants to go to law school. It's very fun for me to think of her doing this. I can't imagine how hard it would be to go to law school in your second language... but I have confidence she can do it and succeed. There is so much she will need to learn and study to accomplish this goal, but I know she can do it. I'm sure I'll write more about this later.... I love you honey!

English

We hung out with some Chinese friends today, and it was great. They are new friends for us and our families got along well. I think Sharon and the other wife got along especially well. Eventually, I realized that I was having a hard time paying attention. Speaking all Chinese in social settings is tiring mentally. I remember that fatigue from my mission. I am sure Sharon still feels that way sometimes, but I often forget this is even possible, because her English seems so good. Nonetheless, I'm sure it is still mentally draining!

Sick

Sharon is pretty sick today. She didn't sleep all night and has an odd pain deep in her back. I hope she's OK and feels better soon! Sometimes I don't always realize how much the house resolves around her until she gets sick.

Running

Sharon went to the gym and ran for 30 minutes even though she is still feeling crappy. I am impressed.

Let me talk for two minutes

Yesterday Sharon got into a long argument with our landlord. He is a stubborn, cheap man that lacks communication skills. When he kept interrupting her over and over again she got him to look at his watch and promise to let her talk for two minutes uninterrupted. He was probably not listening, but he did finally let her talk. Our landlord is from Taiwan and it was fun to hear Sharon alternate from Chinese back and forth to English, desperately trying to get her point across. Nobody is going to trample over her without a fight!

Don't mess with my wife

When the insurance company told Sharon they were totaling our car today, she demanded they pay more money for the car seats and recent repairs we did on it. I love that nobody bosses her around and that she can stand up for herself.

Independent and strong

I've always admired how Sharon has come here to america all by herself, how she has stayed here without any family support, how she is raising our family here so far from where she grew up. I know it's hard for her to see others who have parents close by who can help and support her. My parents are wonderful but it is of course no substitute for her own family, who are so far away. She is a strong and independent women, whom I love!
